Encaustic & Cold Wax

As a springboard for curiosity, I engage with encaustic—beeswax and damar resin—and cold wax, each offering a distinct way to explore depth, texture, fluidity, and light.

Encaustic is an ancient medium, used for more than 2,000 years. Fluid and infinitely malleable, it mirrors the experience of being in flow—much like water. I melt the wax, paint, fuse each layer with heat, and repeat the process, allowing texture, shape, and depth to emerge over time.

Cold wax offers a similar invitation to explore depth, texture, and fluidity. Mixed with oil paint, it creates a rich, tactile surface that can be built, scraped, revealed, and transformed.

Both mediums are luminous and nourishing. They invite curiosity, presence, and a willingness to see what emerges.
